Grand National thoughts - Sweepstake Kit, App, latest prices and no tips ;-) !!!

Some Grand National thoughts ......

This weekend sees a huge influx of "what is going to win the Grand national Tony?" type texts and calls, I never mind to be fair. However the chance of me picking the national winner every year is slim ! if I could I would be living on an island in the West Indies, sat on a boat with a raft of Staff !

Back what you fancy ! A name, a colour (I have often found green to be lucky !) - Whatever you think ! Tips in the pub for the National are often just made up - so go with what you think ! and don't bet if you can't afford to lose - it is just fun !Look out for the bookies that are paying 5 Places (Bet365, Skybet, Paddy Power, Stan James) and 6 Places (Bet Victor)- and make certain you take the price when you bet your horse.

Latest odds are here:

Here is a simple Sweepstake kit link

My Shortlist for the race is:

In no particular order !
Quel Esprit
Cappa Bleu
Always Waining
Chicago Grey
Rare Bob

And the winner is still probably not in the above ! I do hope that my great mate Wilson Renwick jumps round on Targuinius - some party if he wins !!! Here is what I am backing by the way - will give a good account as a huge Aintree performer.

I hope all the horses and riders come home safe and sound.

Channel 4 Launches new Racing App - Free Tracker for your phone

Just like for the jockeys on the famous Aintree course, the Grand National provides one of the biggest tests in TV and to celebrate its first coverage of the race Channel 4 has launched a brand new second screen app.

Based on Monterosa LViS second screen technology and TurfTrax data, the Channel 4 Horse Tracker is designed to allow, for the first time, viewers to track the position, speed and distance in real time of the horses—such as relative to the next horse and to the finish—in the John Smith’s Grand National and other races for the Aintree three-day meeting including the main event itself broadcast at 4.15 p.m. on Saturday 6 April.

The free app, is available to download immediately from the Apple App Store, uses to allow users to access live race information synchronised with their TV coverage of the race. A non-synchronised version of tracker will also be available online at

Day 4

Hard work on the New course and today looks no easier ! The bookies are giving lots of offers - have a good hunt round !

I have backed a 50/1 shot Gassin Gold - a lovely horse from the flat - massive price - Our Conor has best form of the short prices

Ifandbutwhynot was a horse for this race when he won here early this year and he will do - I wouldnt give up on Abbey Lane either if he runs

I am going for Aim to Prosper each way in this jumps great and strong stare of the flat - At Fishers Cross is a superb horse

Sir Des Champs and Bobs worth will be first and second in the Gold cup

Salsify and Cottage Oak for me with Cottage Oak just the pick at the prices

Hard hard race the fav is a good horse but can't figure out why he is 6-1+ but do think he is top class Gevrey Chambertain and also each way on Haventgotascoobydo

Dynaste top class horse will take a lot of beating Texas Jack e/w

Close House and First Fandango at a hue price !

Cue Card and For Non Stop - very tough race you could pick 5 and not get the winner

I like Solwhit and Getmeoutofhere far more open than usual due to Big Bucks absence - good race in prospect

Get a pin out and put it somewhere in the middle - I like to runa mighty race Divers and Walkon

Galaxy Rock will and should run well on the better ground

Day 2

After giving out a few each way I managed to get the placepot up - !!! paid £10.90 ouch

Very unlucky in places 3 from 4 with MyTent letting me down- so here we go on to Day 2

I think that this trappy for a 4 Miler - and really not sure of a bet, have been told that Buddy Beloro is well fancied

Pont Alexandre is class act another Denman however I am going for two to beat that Rule the World and Chatterbox

Anything and I mean anything can win this - a slow race and long slow finish - can be a right slog - for me Lord Windermere and Goulanes are the slowest stayers so might be worth a go !!

Sprinter Sacre enough said

Love the Coral Cup and have had a many a winner in it - three to run well Fiveforthree,Orsippus and Abbey Lane

Bordoni very impressive last time - great jockey - very tough race !

5.15 The Bumper
Sgt Reckless seemingly working the house down at Mick Channons against top class flat horses however the one for me is Milo Man in another tough race

Favs under 7/2 rule
