This weekend sees a huge influx of "what is going to win the Grand national Tony?" type texts and calls, I never mind to be fair. However the chance of me picking the national winner every year is slim ! if I could I would be living on an island in the West Indies, sat on a boat with a raft of Staff !

Back what you fancy ! A name, a colour (I have often found green to be lucky !) - Whatever you think ! Tips in the pub for the National are often just made up - so go with what you think ! and don't bet if you can't afford to lose - it is just fun !Look out for the bookies that are paying 5 Places (Bet365, Skybet, Paddy Power, Stan James) and 6 Places (Bet Victor)- and make certain you take the price when you bet your horse.

Channel 4 Launches new Racing App - Free Tracker for your phone

Just like for the jockeys on the famous Aintree course, the Grand National provides one of the biggest tests in TV and to celebrate its first coverage of the race Channel 4 has launched a brand new second screen app.

Based on Monterosa LViS second screen technology and TurfTrax data, the Channel 4 Horse Tracker is designed to allow, for the first time, viewers to track the position, speed and distance in real time of the horses—such as relative to the next horse and to the finish—in the John Smith’s Grand National and other races for the Aintree three-day meeting including the main event itself broadcast at 4.15 p.m. on Saturday 6 April.

The free app, is available to download immediately from the Apple App Store, uses to allow users to access live race information synchronised with their TV coverage of the race. A non-synchronised version of tracker will also be available online at channel4.com/racing.

A good day yesterday for the blog with a 20/1 winner and quite a few good priced placed horses, amd my good mate wilson Renwick nearly had a winner !!! there was also a very topical winner Tartan Snow at 100/1

Day 1 - Some Aintree Magic - ground drying ? do you think the Cheltenham Horses can win? I am never sure and certainly would never go in on short ones at Aintree - far too tough!

I have backed a 50/1 shot Gassin Gold - a lovely horse from the flat - massive price - Our Conor has best form of the short prices

Ifandbutwhynot was a horse for this race when he won here early this year and he will do - I wouldnt give up on Abbey Lane either if he runs

I am going for Aim to Prosper each way in this jumps great and strong stare of the flat - At Fishers Cross is a superb horse

Good day yesterday - even with some very near misses for a few if Rule The World had won and if Ericht had of been 4th not 5th then clover would be the way I would feel !!!

After giving out a few each way I managed to get the placepot up - !!! paid £10.90 ouch

Very unlucky in places 3 from 4 with MyTent letting me down- so here we go on to Day 2

I think that this trappy for a 4 Miler - and really not sure of a bet, have been told that Buddy Beloro is well fancied

Pont Alexandre is class act another Denman however I am going for two to beat that Rule the World and Chatterbox

Anything and I mean anything can win this - a slow race and long slow finish - can be a right slog - for me Lord Windermere and Goulanes are the slowest stayers so might be worth a go !!
